Dr. Torbjörn Tagesson

Biography

Torbjörn Tagesson is a Professor of Accounting at Linköping University, where he has been working since 2012. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Lund University, Sweden in 2002, with a dissertation focused on Cost Accounting as a Basis for Benchmarking and Pricing. His research primarily concentrates on accounting, auditing, and governance within both private and public sectors. He investigates the institutional economic factors that influence accounting choices, focusing on compliance with standards and the extent of voluntary disclosures. Alongside his research, Professor Tagesson teaches academic courses at basic, advanced, and post-graduate levels and supervises graduate students in the fields of accounting and auditing. He holds key positions in various professional bodies, having served as the Executive Director of the Swedish Council for Municipal Accounting and has been an active advisor during revisions of the Municipal Accounting Act. His extensive contributions to the academic community are reflected in his membership in the Swedish Auditing Academy and various associations related to local government accounting.
