Dr. Tracey Yap

Biography

Tracey L. Yap is a Professor at the Duke University School of Nursing and a Senior Fellow at the Duke University Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Her research focuses on improving the quality of care delivered by nursing staff across various settings, aiming to enhance healthcare outcomes through increasing mobility and movement of individuals. She employs cueing approaches to advance nursing practices in managing the healthcare needs of patients. With a strong background in nursing research, Yap has published numerous articles, including systematic reviews and studies focusing on risk factors and preventive measures for hospital-acquired pressure injuries, particularly in critically ill patients. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 2008 and has been actively involved in research projects funded by notable institutions such as the National Institutes of Health and the University of California - Los Angeles. Her commitment to nursing excellence has been recognized through various honors, including a position as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
