Biography

Tracy Finlayson is an Associate Professor in the Division of Health Management Policy at SDSU and a core investigator at the Institute for Behavioral Community Health (IBACH). She is an interdisciplinary health services researcher specializing in sociology and social psychology. Her primary research focuses on the psychosocial determinants of oral health disparities, accessibility of dental care for vulnerable populations, and health policy. Dr. Finlayson leads efforts to develop and validate oral health survey measures and has been involved in evaluations of major state-level policy changes in Michigan and California. Prior to joining SDSU, she served as a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) at UC Berkeley. She holds a PhD in Health Services from the University of Michigan and a BS in Human Development from the University of California, Davis. Her accolades include the Jay S. Drotman Memorial Award from the American Public Health Association in 2008 and she is a 2015-2016 Isman-Fine Oral Health Leadership Fellow at California's Center for Oral Health. Currently, she serves on the Advisory Board for the Share Care/Dental Health Initiative.
