Biography

Tracy Madsen, M.D., Ph.D., FAHA, FACEP is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Epidemiology at Brown University. She also serves as the Vice-Chair of Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Interim Director of the Division of Sex and Gender in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Madsen is recognized for her expertise in sex and gender-based medicine, particularly in acute cerebrovascular disease and stroke epidemiology. Her research has received funding from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, resulting in over 100 peer-reviewed publications. She speaks nationally and internationally on topics related to stroke in women, health inequities in stroke care, and disparities within the academic emergency medicine workforce. She completed her Master’s Degree in Clinical Translational Research and her Ph.D. in Epidemiology at Brown University’s School of Public Health, and her M.D. at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Madsen has received recognition as a Fellow of the National Academy of Medicine in Emergency Medicine.
