Biography

Dr. Tracy Stewart is a Lecturer in Developmental Psychology at the University of Edinburgh’s Moray House School of Education and Sport. She is a Chartered Psychologist and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Since joining the University of Edinburgh in 2017, Tracy has focused her research on areas of clinical, cognitive, and developmental psychology, particularly in understanding typical and atypical cognitive and emotional development in children and adolescents. Her work has investigated key issues such as the emotional factors contributing to pre-clinical symptoms of clinical disorders, especially depression during adolescence. Additionally, her research includes examining the impact of childhood trauma on autobiographical memory development and working closely with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Tracy is also participating in ongoing projects aiming to assess the mental health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable children, and developing screening instruments for early detection of depression in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her collaborative work encompasses partnerships with various experts in the fields of education and health.
