Biography

Trang Chu is an Associate Fellow at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where she lectures on leadership agility, emotions, and heuristics in decision-making. She draws on the latest research in affective decision science to help senior executives and public leaders leverage emotions to build trust, promote inclusive leadership, and achieve superior decision-making performance, thereby enabling them to successfully lead and expand their businesses. With a career spanning 25 years in capital markets, Trang has gained valuable insights into the role of emotions in risk and decision-making. She has served as Managing Director and Head of Global Capital Markets at Deutsche Bank and as Managing Director and Head of Financial Products Group for EMEA at Merrill Lynch, where she led global cross-functional trading and structuring teams. Previously, she worked in equity derivatives trading and structuring at Salomon Smith Barney and project finance at Lehman Brothers. Currently, Trang is pursuing a doctorate at University College London’s Faculty of Brain Sciences, researching the relationship between language and emotions, and how language influences emotional and behavioral responses. She holds an MSc in Cognitive Decision Science from UCL, an MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago, and a BSc in Economics from New York University Stern School of Business.
