Biography

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Travis Harrison teaches double bass at the University of Toronto. He is a high demand freelance soloist and chamber musician, and a section leader in the Southern Ontario region. Travis has served as guest Principal Bass for the National Arts Centre and the Canadian Opera Company Orchestras. His deep love for music led to his Toronto Symphony debut at age 18. He held a tenured position with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra from 2013 to 2019. Additionally, he has contributed to the bass community as the Board Chair for the International Society of Bassists and as a consultant for tonebase, where he is responsible for the curation of double bass content. Travis co-authored 'The Canadian School of Double Bass' technique books with his mentor, Joel Quarrington, and proudly performs on basses commissioned by Montreal master luthier Mario Lamarre, using bows crafted by Ottawa’s Bernard Walke.
