Dr. Travis Townsend

Biography

Travis T. Townsend is a lecturer at the University of Michigan Law School and a co-founding financial partner at Townsend & Lockett LLC, a national business-focused law firm based in Atlanta. He leads business law, corporate, and securities transactional practices at Townsend & Lockett, providing legal services to world-leading corporations on complex transactions. Prior to this, he was a senior associate in the corporate transactional group at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC and began his legal career at Alston & Bird LLP. Townsend is actively engaged in diversity initiatives and has served on various legal opinion committees. His individual practice focuses on advising large telecom, energy, manufacturing, and entertainment companies. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Emory University. In the community, Townsend is the president of the National Black MBA Association Atlanta Chapter and has been involved with multiple organizations aimed at improving educational opportunities in underserved communities. He has been recognized by national and local media for his contributions to the legal profession and community service.
