Travis L. Wagner is an assistant professor at the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Wagner's research interests encompass critical information studies, queer archives, and LGBTQIA+ advocacy within sociotechnical systems. Through multiple projects, he collaborates with classroom and community organizations to explore innovative publishing and the complex relationships with archival mediums that highlight queer counter-historical narratives. Wagner's recent scholarly contributions include articles in prominent journals such as the Journal of Information Science and the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, addressing topics ranging from queer obsolescence to the experiences of transgender and nonbinary individuals in the context of ICT-driven information practices. He earned his PhD in Information Science from the University of South Carolina and previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Archival Futures, focusing on the recovery and reuse of archival data at the University of Maryland's College of Information. Additionally, he is the co-creator of the Queer Cola Oral History Digital Archive.
