Biography

Trevor Brown is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. He has held positions as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology in Austria and at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Trevor completed his PhD at the University of Toronto, where he developed a keen interest in concurrent data structures, particularly lock-free implementations. His research focuses on transactional memory and non-volatile memory, as well as techniques to handle non-uniform memory architectures. Trevor has developed and optimized various algorithms, including those related to synchronization primitives and memory reclamation for concurrent data structures. He has also contributed to the Coordination Theory community through invited talks and presentations. As a teaching assistant, he has instructed courses on algorithms, data structures, and operating systems, reflecting his strong commitment to education in computer science. Trevor's work emphasizes the balance between theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of concurrent programming, making significant contributions in the field of systems programming and data structure optimization.
