Biography

I am passionate about empowering and pushing the boundaries of science every day. I encourage students and colleagues to tackle challenging problems head-on, knowing that the struggle makes the eventual breakthroughs rewarding. There’s a real sense of accomplishment when a complex problem unravels; in that moment, you feel unstoppable. My journey started in synthetic organic chemistry, and I became captivated by the possibilities of computational chemistry. My research focuses on uncovering mechanisms in reactions, using advanced computational methods to explore pericyclic reactions, small molecule activation, and catalysis. I teach a variety of dynamic courses in Bachelor’s and Master’s Chemistry programs at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, ranging from physical organic chemistry to advanced computational chemistry. My passion lies in creating an environment where students thrive, building confidence in research, sharpening writing skills, and mastering presentation abilities.
