Biography

Troels Nørgaard Skadhauge is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Southern Denmark, focusing on the project 'Complaining Window Citizens' Expectations of the Welfare State in Britain and Denmark, 1960s–2020s.' He completed his PhD in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where his dissertation examined how Swedish social democrats transformed from gravediggers to managers in capitalism. Currently, Skadhauge is revising his dissertation into a book and is working on papers related to the history of social democracy. His research broadly interests the history of political economy, particularly the relationship between democracy and capitalism. He is also beginning to explore the recent history of Danish social democrats, with a special focus on their adaptation to restrictive immigration policies. His work will pay attention to how complaints have shaped the politics of immigration within the context of the Danish welfare state.
