Tsegaye Moreda Shegro is an Assistant Professor of Development Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam's International Institute of Social Studies. He is a founding member of the Young African Researchers Agriculture network and a member of the Political Ecology Research Group. He serves as the Convenor for the MA Development Studies and leads the Agrarian Food Politics course. Previously, he taught at China Agricultural University and has experience across various educational contexts in Ethiopia. His research interests focus on the political economy of sustainability, resource governance, and the dynamics of land and natural resource politics in relation to social justice and ecological sustainability, particularly in the face of global climate change and resource exploitation. He is involved in several significant research projects, including an ERC Advanced Grant project examining land rushes and their socio-economic impacts in regions such as Colombia, Ethiopia, and Myanmar. Shegro holds a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies and an M.A. in Development Studies from Addis Ababa University, as well as a Ph.D. from the International Institute of Social Studies at Erasmus University.
