Biography

Tulia G. Falleti is the Class of 1965 Endowed Term Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania, with affiliations to the Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies and the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program. She is a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics. Falleti's scholarly contributions include the book 'Decentralization and Subnational Politics in Latin America' published by Cambridge University Press in 2010, and she has received the Donna Lee Van Cott Award from the Latin American Studies Association. Her work includes co-editing the 'Oxford Handbook of Historical Institutionalism' (Oxford University Press, 2016) and exploring themes within Latin American politics through several peer-reviewed articles published in respected journals like the American Political Science Review and World Politics. Falleti has been involved in significant research projects, including a $5 million grant from the Mellon Foundation's Futures Initiative, focusing on transdisciplinary research related to dispossession in the Americas. She has served as Director of the Latin American and Latinx Studies Program and is currently the Chair of the Faculty Senate for the academic year 2023-2024.
