Biography

Dr. Tulio Valdez is a surgeon scientist with a subspecialty interest in Pediatric Otolaryngology. He attended medical school at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, and completed his residency in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at Tufts Medical Center. He furthered his training with a Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital in 2007. Dr. Valdez's clinical interests include pediatric sleep apnea and the management of sinus disease in cystic fibrosis patients. He has co-authored a textbook and contributed to numerous book chapters and scientific manuscripts. His research continues to explore areas such as aerodigestive disorders, the development of imaging methods to diagnose otitis media and cholesteatoma, and the advancement of intraoperative imaging modalities to improve surgical outcomes and reduce radiation exposure in pediatric patients. He believes in multi-disciplinary collaborations to address complex medical challenges, having co-invented medical devices and surgical simulation models. Dr. Valdez holds board certifications from the American Board of Otolaryngology and Pediatric Otolaryngology.
