Biography

Tuuli Kukkonen is an Associate Professor in the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences at the University of Guelph. Her primary research interests lie in sexual psychophysiology, particularly exploring the interaction of biological and psychosocial factors that influence sexual health, especially in the context of aging. Kukkonen holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from McGill University, where her dissertation research established thermography as a viable tool for measuring and comparing sexual arousal in men and women. Following her doctoral studies, she completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Sex and Couple Therapy Service and the Psychosocial Oncology Department at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Montreal General Hospital, respectively. At the University of Guelph, she received funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation to establish a thermography laboratory, which will facilitate ongoing research into sexual functioning in both healthy and clinical populations. Kukkonen also teaches courses on Human Sexuality and Couple and Family Relationships Communication Counseling.
