Dr. Uchita Vaid

Biography

Uchita Vaid is an Assistant Professor in Design Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on understanding the role of built environments in improving the human condition. She investigates interactions between design, human behavior, and health, with the goal of creating healthy, supportive, and equitable environments for living, working, and playing. Vaid's work highlights design as a transformational force to address health and social vulnerabilities, particularly in global low-to-middle income contexts. She is particularly interested in the complex connections that enable the use of evidence-based design principles in built environments, especially in crisis situations. Her scholarship is relevant for policies addressing social issues related to housing and neighborhoods.
