Biography

Ufuk Topcu is an Associate Professor and holds the Cockrell Family Dean's Chair in Engineering Excellence at the University of Texas at Austin. He joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics in Fall 2015, after completing his postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 2008. Dr. Topcu's academic career includes a previous role in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. His research primarily focuses on design verification for autonomous systems, integrating components from engineering principles, computer science, and real-time systems. Dr. Topcu is dedicated to advancing the foundational theories and practical applications of autonomous technologies, as well as educating the next generation of engineers in these critical areas.
