Dr. Ugo Zilioli

Biography

Ugo Zilioli obtained his Laurea in Philosophy from the University of Bologna in 1997 and his PhD in Ancient Philosophy from Durham University in 2002. He also completed a PGCE in Classics at Liverpool Hope University in 2021. Ugo has held various teaching and research positions across Europe and is a researcher on the John Fell Fund. His research interests primarily focus on the history of ideas, particularly in ancient philosophy and ancient non-Western traditions, as well as contemporary metaphysics. He is actively engaged in promoting the use of philosophy in schools across the UK and Europe, co-founding the Well-Pheal Foundation to facilitate this. Ugo is affiliated with the Leverhulme project titled 'Persons and Objects in Ancient Philosophy' which explores Greek, Indian, and Buddhist perspectives. He has authored and edited several publications in the field, including significant works on ancient Greek and Indian philosophers, as well as studies on epistemology, ethics, and metaphysics. Ugo continues to contribute to the academic community through his work and outreach initiatives.
