Biography

Ulf Göransson obtained his PhD in 2002 from Uppsala University, focusing on the discovery of a new family of circular plant peptides, named cyclotides. After completing his postdoctoral research in the Structural Biology laboratory of Professor David J. Craik at the Institute of Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland, he returned to Uppsala in 2004. His research group investigates the discovery of biologically active peptides from plants and animals and develops novel techniques for synthesizing ultra-stable peptide structures and designing antimicrobial peptides. Ulf's laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for peptide analysis and biological assays. He has established an international network that includes leading experts in peptide synthesis and structural determination. Ulf has received significant external funding for his research from the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. He has held various academic positions, achieving Assistant Professorship in 2008, becoming an Associate Professor in 2011, and being promoted to Full Professor in 2014.
