Professor Schlichtmann explores design automation methodologies for complex digital and analog electronic circuits and systems, which consist of billions of components designed using sophisticated optimization and analysis algorithms. In recent years, his research has increasingly addressed emerging technologies such as photonics, microfluidic biochips, and neuromorphic architectures. Schlichtmann studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and obtained his doctorate with a thesis on computer-aided design. He also pursued a postgraduate business degree during this time. With 10 years of experience working at Siemens AG and Infineon Technologies AG in various technical, managerial, and executive positions, he was appointed to a professorship at TUM in 2003. In addition to his research and teaching activities, he coordinates international study programs between Munich and Singapore (TUM Asia) and serves as the program director for the TUMCREATE research project in Singapore. He is also a member of advisory boards at acatech and the National Academy of Science and Engineering.
