Dr. Ulrika Maude

Biography

Ulrika Maude is a Professor of Modern Literature at the University of Bristol. She holds multiple degrees including MAs in English and Spanish from the University of Turku and University of Helsinki, respectively, a Phil Lic from Turku, and a PhD from York. Her research interests encompass modernist literature, perception, medicine, and philosophies of embodiment. Maude has published extensively, including noted works such as 'Samuel Beckett Medicine' and 'Beckett, Technology Body'. She has served on various editorial boards and led significant research initiatives, particularly in medical humanities. Her involvement includes visiting professorship at the University of Turku and research fellowships at esteemed institutions such as the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center. Maude supervises PhD students in diverse areas linking literature to medicine, modernism, and sensory studies, and is influential in projects addressing contemporary research challenges in health and technology.
