Dr. Uma Phatak

Biography

Uma Phatak, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and specializes in Pediatric Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Yale School of Medicine. She completed her medical degree in India, followed by a Pediatric internship and residency at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in New Jersey, and fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. Her research primarily focuses on understanding the immune mechanisms in children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). As a pediatric gastroenterologist, Dr. Phatak provides comprehensive care to children suffering from IBD and leads a multidisciplinary pediatric IBD clinic at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. She is actively involved in clinical education, serving as the Director of the Pediatric Clerkship and overseeing the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Fellowship Program.
