Umang received a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Gujarat University, India, and worked as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at L.D. College of Engineering for 5 years while pursuing his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. He developed surface preferential approaches for nucleation crystallisation of biological complex organic molecules and worked as a Research Associate investigating the role of surface properties on particle-particle interactions. Umang developed approaches to decouple the contributions of surface attributes to powder cohesion. In 2012, he received recognition for his contributions to undergraduate laboratory teaching, being nominated for the Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards by the Faculty of Engineering. Currently, he leads the operation of innovative teaching laboratories.
