Professor Cheema completed his PhD in tissue engineering of skeletal muscle at University College London in 2004. Following this, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow with Professor Robert Brown at University College London and with Professor Teruo Okano at Tokyo Women's Medical University in Japan.
