The Ginty Lab uses approaches including molecular genetics, anatomy, physiology, behavior, and systems neurobiology to understand mammalian somatosensory neurons and the central nervous system circuits that underlie the sense of touch. The research aims to define the mechanisms by which the somatosensory system develops and how dysfunction in somatosensory circuitry can lead to disease states.
