Biography

Unna Danner studied Social Psychology at the Free University of Amsterdam and at the University of Kent at Canterbury. She received her PhD in 2007 with a thesis titled 'By Force of Habit: Formation and Maintenance of Goal-Directed Habitual Behavior'. Unna was supervised by Professor Henk Aarts and Professor Nanne de Vries. She subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Altrecht Eating Disorders, collaborating with the Department of Health Psychology at Utrecht University. In 2010, she became a full-time senior researcher at Altrecht, where her research focuses on cognitive functioning in individuals with eating disorders, as well as the influence of emotional problems and maladaptive emotion regulation on depressive symptoms. A significant part of her work involves managing and coordinating scientific projects at Altrecht and she is a member of the multidisciplinary research group URGE (Utrecht Research Group on Eating Disorders). Unna Danner is also an active member of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), which organizes an annual international conference on eating disorders. In 2016, she took on a teaching position in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University, where she supervises master's and bachelor's theses and clinical internships, and is involved in courses such as Academic Professional, Methods in Statistics 3, and Foundations of Clinical Psychology.
