Biography

Upanshu Sharma is a Lecturer in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. He has held several prestigious research positions, including a Humboldt Research Fellowship in the Computational Statistical Biological Physics group at FU Berlin and the Stochastics Applications group at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. He completed his PostDoctoral research at the Institute of Mathematics at FU Berlin and at CERMICS (École des Ponts ParisTech). Upanshu defended his PhD thesis in 2017 at CASA (TU Eindhoven). His research lies at the intersection of partial differential equations and probability theory, focusing on computational statistical mechanics. His general themes of research include coarse-graining of stochastic dynamics associated with evolution equations and connections to large deviations and variational structures in evolution equations arising from stochastic particle systems, as well as sampling algorithms for molecular dynamics.
