Urbashi Mitra received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1987 (with high honors) and 1989, respectively. She completed her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Princeton University in 1994. Afterward, she worked as a Member of Technical Staff at Bellcore from 1989 to 1990. She was promoted to Full Professor in 2005 and held the position of Dean's Professor of Electrical Engineering between 2015 and 2017. Currently, she is the Gordon S. Her research focuses on communication theory, information theory, and signal processing with an emphasis on wireless communication systems and their applications. Key interests include joint communication and control in networks, cognitive radio, and various algorithms related to signal processing.
