Biography

Ursula Porod received her PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1993. She has held postdoctoral positions at the University of California, Berkeley and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton. Porod has taught at Johns Hopkins University and Goucher College before joining the faculty at Northwestern University in 2009. Her research focuses on random walks and compact Lie groups. She was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship from 1985 to 1987 and the Miller Research Fellowship at UC Berkeley from 1994 to 1996. In 2013, Porod was the recipient of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Teaching Award.
