Dr. Ursula Schröder

Biography

Ursula Schröder is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Hamburg and the Director of the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy (IFSH). Her research primarily focuses on shaping peace and security orders in a world characterized by multiple crises. She has been at the University of Hamburg since 2017, previously holding a position as a Professor of International Security at Freie Universität Berlin. Ursula's work addresses critical topics such as the nexus between security and climate futures, democratic security promises in a new era, and participatory research in security policy. She has engaged in various projects exploring peacebuilding, state-building, and security sector reform, alongside disaster response and civil protection strategies. Schröder is also actively involved in numerous boards and foundations related to peace research and security policy, contributing to discussions on European security architectures and international policing. She has authored and co-authored several research reports and academic articles on relevant themes in peace and security studies.
