Professor Dr. Uta Klement

Biography

Uta Klement is a Full Professor in the field of Materials Science at Chalmers University, specializing in Materials Manufacture and Industrial Materials Science. She serves as the Head of the Division of Materials Manufacture and has a prominent role in the Surface Microstructure Engineering research group. Her research focuses on the development and characterization of various nanocrystalline and sub-microcrystalline materials for functional applications. She has extensively studied energy-absorbing coatings produced through electroplating, thermal spray techniques, and mechanical alloying, with an emphasis on optimizing phase formation, distribution, texture, thermal stability, and adhesion in these materials. Additionally, Uta has conducted investigations into superalloys, titanium, and advanced steels to understand their properties and how to achieve robust and predictable manufacturing processes while minimizing energy consumption and reducing environmental impact.
