Biography

Utz Weitzel is a Full Professor of Experimental Finance at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Research Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute. He also holds a position as a Professor of Experimental Behavioral Finance at Radboud University. Previously, he was a Professor of Finance at Utrecht University and directed the Society for Experimental Finance. In addition, he has had an academic career that includes fellowships at prestigious institutions such as the Max Planck Institute of Economics and postdoctoral training at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management after obtaining his PhD from Humboldt-University Berlin. His research predominantly focuses on behavioral and experimental finance, corporate finance and management, complex systems, and metascience. His work has been published in reputable journals including the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Nature Physics. Weitzel has been recognized as a Top Dutch Economist multiple times and has received numerous academic awards for his contributions to the field.
