Dr. Uwe Naumann

Biography

Uwe Naumann is a Professor of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and serves as a Principal Scientist in the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) Ltd., Oxford, UK. His research focuses on Algorithmic Differentiation (AD) and its applications, including combinatorial problems, integration methods, software development, and high-performance computing. With a rich background in numerical methods, Naumann emphasizes the practical relevance of his work, which aims to foster interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving through mathematical modeling and numerical simulation. He has contributed to critical developments in static and dynamic program analysis and optimization techniques in computational science and engineering domains. Naumann has held various academic positions, including visiting lectureships and senior lectureships in computer science and has worked at institutions such as Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Hertfordshire.
