Biography

Uzay Kaymak is a Full Professor and Chair of Information Systems in Health Care at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on intelligent decision support systems, data process mining, and computational modeling methods. He has worked on the development of computational intelligence methods for decision models utilizing linguistic information, which is represented through declarative linguistic rules derived from experts and obtained through natural language processing, combined with numerical data extracted through computational machine learning methods. The basis of his models is fuzzy set theory. The resulting adaptive decision support systems have applications in financial decision-making, economic analysis, and clinical decision support. Kaymak received his MSc in electrical engineering in 1992, a Chartered Designer Degree in information technology in 1995, and his PhD in control engineering in 1998 from Delft University of Technology. He has held positions at Shell International Exploration Production, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the University of Salford, and has co-authored more than 250 scientific publications in the fields of intelligent systems and computerized decision support. In addition, he is a board member of the TU/e Clinical Informatics study program and has served on the program and organization committees for multiple international conferences.
