Dr. Vahid Pay

Biography

Vahid Nick Pay is a full-time Departmental Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Oxford. He serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for Postgraduate Taught Programmes and is a Fellow of Kellogg College, University of Oxford, as well as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Vahid's scholarly interests lie at the intersection of Social Sciences, Information Technology, Political Philosophy, Diplomacy, Security Studies, Linguistics, Computer Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. He has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor in Politics and International Relations at the University of Kurdistan, Adjunct Professor at the University of Paris (Paris Descartes), and lecturer roles at Sciences Po Paris and the University of Milan. Vahid has received the Teaching Excellence Award in 2018 for his contributions to education. He holds a habilitation in higher education teaching and supervision in France. In addition to his academic roles, he brings experience from his service as a Captain in national armies and from working with organizations such as the BBC and the French National Healthcare Authority. Vahid is currently developing a comprehensive postgraduate programme in AI Governance and engages in public education through short courses.
