Biography

Valentina Calzolari Bouvier is a full professor of Armenian Studies at the University of Geneva, where she holds the first and only chair in Armenian Studies in Switzerland. She oversees the Bachelor and Master programs in Armenian Studies, both ancient and modern, as well as doctoral training. She has been a Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University and New York University. Bouvier has been recognized by numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate from the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the Movses Khorenatsi Medal awarded by the President of Armenia. She has held key roles in various international academic associations, including serving as President of the International Association of Armenian Studies and the Association for the Study of Christian Apocryphal Literature. Her research focuses on ancient and modern Armenian literature and the historiography of Armenia, particularly the transmission of Greek philosophical thought to Armenia. She has published extensively on Armenian literature and culture and has contributed significantly to the field through various academic committees and editorial boards.
