Biography

Valentina Tonei is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the UCL Social Research Institute. She joined the University in January 2020. Prior to this, she served as a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Economics and Related Studies at the University of York from 2017 to 2019, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Ireland in 2016. Valentina earned her PhD from the University of York in January 2017. Her primary research interests lie in Health Economics and Family Economics, particularly focusing on the socio-economic determinants of parental investments, child development, and gender health inequalities. She has published papers in leading scientific journals such as the Journal of Health Economics and the European Economic Review and has experience teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Quantitative Modelling in Economics.
