Valeria Garbin is a Full Professor in Flow Dynamics of Soft Matter at Delft University of Technology, where she heads the section on Transport Phenomena. Her research focuses on microscale transport phenomena and soft biological materials, with a particular emphasis on colloid interface science. Her overarching goal is to develop innovative solutions for sustainable processes and products. Valeria Garbin earned her MSc in Physics from the University of Padova in 2003 and her PhD from the University of Trieste in 2007, both in Italy. Following her doctoral studies, she held a Rubicon fellowship in the Physics Fluids group at the University of Twente from 2007 to 2009 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, she began her research group at Imperial College London and joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at TU Delft in 2019. Valeria has been awarded several grants including the ERC Starting Grant in 2015 and the ERC Proof of Concept Grant in 2022. She is also a recipient of the NWO Vici grant (2022), the McBain medal by RSC/SCI, and the Soft Matter Lectureship by RSC in 2020.
