Biography

Valerie Press is a Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Medicine (Section of General Internal Medicine) and holds secondary appointments in the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care as well as the Section of Academic Pediatrics. She has a strong background in internal medicine and pediatrics, having received her medical degree and Master of Public Health in health management and policy from the University of Michigan. Press completed her residency in internal medicine-pediatrics and has undertaken a health services research fellowship at the University of Chicago. She is involved as the Medical Director of the Care Transitions Clinic and oversees the COPD Transitions Care Program. With over a decade of funded research, her work aims at improving chronic lung disease management through integrated patient-centered interventions. Press has mentored numerous students and junior faculty, recognized with various awards including the John D. Arnold, MD Mentor Award and the Frederick L. Brancati Mentorship Leadership Award.
