Dr. Valeska Ting

Biography

Valeska Ting is a Professor of Smart Nanomaterials and the Associate Dean of Engagement, Research, and Impact at the ANU College of Systems and Society. She leads a research team focused on developing functional nanoporous materials to address sustainable technology challenges. Valeska is recognized for her contributions to the field of chemical engineering and was awarded the Sir Frederick Warner Medal by the Institution of Chemical Engineers for her excellence in this domain. She has been named one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering for Sustainability in 2020 by the UK’s Parliamentary Scientific Committee. Valeska is also an accomplished communicator in STEM topics and has served as an expert voice for the BBC Academy, conducting public lectures and training sessions for prestigious organizations such as the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Her involvement in educational outreach includes creating video content on the laws of thermodynamics for the Royal Institution Christmas lectures, which garnered over a million views on YouTube. Valeska holds a PhD and is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. She has served as an Honorary Professor at the University of Bristol and is engaged in supervising research students in her field.
