Professor Dr. Vance Williams

Biography

Vance Williams is a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Simon Fraser University, specializing in the development and understanding of organic materials. He holds a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. from Queen's University. His research interests focus on liquid crystals, conjugated polymers, organic synthesis, and self-assembly molecular recognition. Williams is particularly interested in discovering new ways to control the self-assembly of organic molecules into nanostructured materials, aiming to elucidate the relationship between molecular structure and macroscopic properties. His specific goals include the synthesis of novel disc-shaped organic molecules and the development of synthetic methods for creating innovative architectural designs in liquid crystals and conjugated polymers.
