Vanda Inacio De Carvalho was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1985. She joined the University of Edinburgh in December 2016 as a Lecturer in Statistics. Prior to this, she spent four years in Chile from 2012 to 2016, where she worked as an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Vanda holds a PhD in Statistics from Universidade de Lisboa, which she obtained in 2012, and has completed her MSc and BSc in Applied Mathematics at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2008 and 2007 respectively. Her research interests include Bayesian (nonparametric) statistics, biostatistics, functional data, and statistical computing. She is actively involved in research groups related to these interests.
