Biography

Vanderlei S. Bagnato is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He is a distinguished member of both the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences, recognized for his contributions to the fields of photo-dynamic therapy and biomedical optics. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and dual bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Material Science Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo and University Federal Sao Carlos, respectively. His work has significantly impacted cancer treatment methodologies and atomic molecular physics, making him a leader in his research areas. Bagnato is also a Hagler Faculty Fellow for the class of 2018-19.
