Vandna Bhatia holds a PhD in Public Policy from McMaster University, obtained in 2005. She also possesses a Master of Health Science in Health Administration from the University of Toronto, which she completed in 1993, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing earned in 1989. Her research interests focus on comparative public policy, health policy, and social policy within the context of Canadian politics. Bhatia's work particularly examines the role of ideas and discourse in the political processes surrounding health care reform and how these discourses affect the construction of policy problems and potential solutions. Her current research emphasizes understanding and explaining policy termination and the influence of populist discourses on the policy-making process. In addition to her research, Bhatia teaches courses on comparative public policy and theories of public policy at both graduate and undergraduate levels. She also instructs courses in research methods. Currently, she serves as the Associate Dean (Academic) within the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs at Carleton University.
