Biography

Vanessa Cheng-Matsuno is a lecturer in Public Policy and Administration at the University of Southampton. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to her academic career, she completed a Master of Public Administration in International Development at Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico. Her professional background includes work as a researcher on governance issues at the World Bank and J-PAL Latin America, as well as serving as a civil servant in Peru. Her research interests focus on experiments in political economy and political behaviour, particularly in relation to public policy challenges in the Global South. She is also a member of research groups such as the Public Opinion Research Southampton (PORS) and the Gender Inequalities Centre (GAIN). Currently, she teaches various courses including Comparative Public Administration and Advanced Policy Analysis, emphasizing her commitment to enhancing research and teaching in the field. Vanessa remains engaged in active research efforts involving the intersections of governance and policy-making.
