Biography

Vanessa Munro is a Professor at the University of Warwick, specializing in law and gender, criminal justice, sexual offences, and domestic violence. With a robust academic background, she holds an LLB degree from the University of Glasgow and a PhD completed in 2000. She has significantly contributed to the understanding of legal policy responses to sexual and gender-based violence, particularly focusing on professional and lay decision-making within criminal and family justice processes. Vanessa's research has received considerable funding from various prestigious organizations, allowing her to execute impactful projects in collaboration with policymakers and practitioners. Notably, she has worked on major studies linking domestic abuse to suicidality, as well as initiatives aimed at improving the responses of the Crown Prosecution Service to rape complaints. Her work extends to editorial roles in respected legal publications and participation in various expert panels, including those focused on human rights and gender justice.
