Dr. Vanja Carlsson

Biography

Vanja Carlsson is a Senior Lecturer in Public Administration at the University of Gothenburg. Her research interests encompass Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, Democracy, Europeanization, Gender Equality, Ideology Analysis, and Public Governance Policy Tools. She is actively involved in ongoing research projects funded by prominent institutions, including a project examining the implications of automated systems in public administration regarding gender equality, financed by the Swedish Research Council from 2023 to 2026, and another project focusing on gender perspectives in research quality within the humanities and social sciences from 2021 to 2024. Additionally, she participates in several research clusters, including one addressing the relationship between AI and the welfare state. With a passion for teaching, she covers topics such as the Theory of Democracy and Gender Equality Work in public organizations. Vanja has been a key contributor to scholarly discussions surrounding governance, automated decision-making, and the dynamics of power and trust in the context of new digital technologies, influencing public policies and societal structures. Her work significantly advances the understanding of these complex interactions, providing valuable insights into the evolving landscape of public administration and equality in the digital age.
