Dr. Vardit Ravitsky

Biography

Vardit Ravitsky is a senior lecturer in global health and social medicine at Harvard Medical School and an associate professor in bioethics at the University of Montreal's School of Public Health. She serves as the director of the ethics and health axis of the Center for Research in Ethics (CRÉ) and is the Vice President of the International Association of Bioethics. Ravitsky's research primarily focuses on the ethics of genomics and reproduction, tackling topics such as public funding for in vitro fertilization, gamete donation, the use of surplus frozen embryos, posthumous reproduction, and genetic testing for pre-implantation and prenatal diagnoses. Notably, she has published over 200 articles and commentaries addressing various bioethical issues. Her academic journey includes studies in France, the United States, and Israel, along with a postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health. She has held academic positions at the University of Pennsylvania and served as a consultant for Genome Canada and as an advisor for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Ravitsky's contributions to the field demonstrate a commitment to addressing the ethical dimensions of advancements in reproductive technologies and genomic science.
