Biography

Varghese Antony Thomas is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received his Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani- K.K. Birla Goa Campus in 2010. He was awarded the British Government's Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue a Master of Science in Wireless Communications from the University of Southampton, which he completed with distinction in 2011. Following this, he pursued Ph.D. studies in Electronics Electrical Engineering at the University of Southampton on a Mayflower Scholarship, completing his degree in 2015. His doctoral thesis was titled "RF Fiber Optical/Wireless Integration". Between 2015 and 2022, he worked as a research faculty member at Georgia Tech and is currently a Senior DSP Engineer at Ciena Corporation. He has published in various photonics journals and conferences and holds 2 patents.
